Export WhatsApp contacts to CSV

Last updated: July 2026

CSV is the one format that imports almost anywhere — Google Contacts, Outlook, a CRM, a spreadsheet. WhatsApp itself gives you no way to export, and it never even shows the phone numbers of people you've saved. Tooly reads them from your own signed-in WhatsApp Web session and writes a clean, universal CSV. Here's exactly what you get and how.

What's inside the CSV

Every contact becomes one row, with columns you can actually use downstream:

ColumnWhat it holds
nameThe saved name, plus the public "about" name when there is one.
phone_e164The number in clean international format (e.g. +5511987654321), ready to import without cleanup.
wa_linkA wa.me link that opens a chat with that contact in one click.
country / dial_codeCountry name and calling code, resolved on your device from bundled offline data.
account_typeWhether the number is a WhatsApp Business or a regular account.
savedWhether the contact is in your address book or just someone you've chatted with.

Where a CSV goes

Because it's the universal interchange format, one export drops straight into all of these — no reformatting:

Get your CSV in four steps

  1. Install Tooly

Add it from the Chrome Web Store — no sign-up, no paywall.

  2. Open WhatsApp Web & scan

Sign in at web.whatsapp.com, open the Tooly side panel, and click Scan WhatsApp. Everything is read locally.

  3. Pick the Contacts tab

Choose Contacts for your whole address book, or Groups / Chats for a single list.

  4. Export as CSV

Hit Export and choose CSV. Your file lands in Downloads instantly, headers and all.

CSV or Excel — which should you pick?

Pick CSV

When you'll import the contacts somewhere — Google Contacts, Outlook, a CRM, an email tool. It's plain, portable, and every app reads it.

Pick Excel

When you'll edit and analyse in a workbook — sort, colour, add columns. See export to Excel.

Tooly writes both from the same scan, so you never have to choose blind.

Frequently asked questions

Can I export WhatsApp contacts to CSV for free?

Yes — your full list to CSV, no contact cap and no account. Premium only adds filters, CRM presets and JSON.

What exactly is the file?

A standard UTF-8, comma-delimited CSV with a header row and one row per contact. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, or any CSV importer.

Will it import into Google Contacts or Outlook?

Yes. CSV is the universal import format — Google Contacts, Outlook, Mailchimp and nearly every CRM accept a CSV upload, so one file works across all of them.

Are my contacts uploaded anywhere?

No. Tooly is read-only and runs entirely in your browser. The CSV is written on your device and never sent to a server.

How many contacts can I export?

There's no cap — every contact and number loaded in your WhatsApp Web session goes into the file.
